Trigger Mapping
Identifying triggers and understanding body, emotion, and behavioral responses to enable proactive regulation.
Trigger mapping is done after settling — not during crisis. If reflecting on the trigger increases distress, stop and use 5-4-3-2-1 Grounding first.
Before You Map
Use this worksheet only when you feel sufficiently settled to look back at what happened before a shift in your state. You do not need to describe the traumatic event itself. You may skip any field or stop at any point.
Trigger Context
Focus on the sequence you noticed, not on explaining why it happened.

Response Map
Notice the response without judging it. Record what you experienced as accurately and simply as you can. You do not need to explain the response.

Regulation & Pattern Review
Review the sequence after you have settled. Look for useful information rather than trying to find a single explanation.
What Helped
Review the Pattern
Patterns may be incomplete. You do not need to reach a conclusion.
When to Stop
Mapping re-traumatizes me
I am unable to stay present
If this happens, stop the worksheet and return to external sensory grounding, such as 5-4-3-2-1 Grounding.
